Key Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 8) in Building Sciences/Architecture/Town Planning/Development Studies
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- 7-10 years’ experience (Minimum 2 years at Senior Management level)
- Municipal Financial Management Programme certification (or willingness to complete within 18 months)
Preferred Competencies
- Professional Planner registration (Planning Professions Act, 2002)
- Project Management certification
- 10+ years local government experience
Core Responsibilities
- Lead strategic development planning aligned with municipal objectives
- Oversee urban/rural planning and economic development initiatives
- Manage departmental budgets and IDP implementation
- Provide expert guidance on spatial planning and public transport systems
- Ensure compliance with municipal legislation and policies
Technical Knowledge Requirements
- National & local government regulations
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Supply Chain Management frameworks
- Performance management systems
