Coordinator (Metallurgical)
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will report to the Superintendent (Metallurgical) and manage the safe and efficient operation of the PGMX Flotation and FCR plant. This includes overseeing thickeners, cyclones, SMD mills, magnetic separation, tailings storage facilities, and the filter press.
- Lead the production team and ensure everyone follows health and safety protocols.
- Continuously improve plant processes and systems for better performance.
- Plan and carry out maintenance for metallurgical equipment and manage the plant’s process budget.
- Supervise the plant’s operations to keep them within set parameters.
- Provide strong leadership by planning, organizing, and controlling all plant activities.
- Help management identify gaps in current procedures and operating processes.
- Communicate production targets to the team and create plans to achieve them.
- Monitor compliance with dispatching final products and managing stockpiles.
- Perform standby duties as required.
- Daily monitor production recovery and the quality of the final product, making necessary adjustments.
Requirements:
- A relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- At least three years of experience in a supervisory role, including PGMX Metal Accounting, process control for flotation plants, or similar operations.
- Strong leadership and people skills, with proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP Production Module, and Coupa P2P.
- Medically fit to work on surface areas, at heights, and in confined spaces.
- A valid Code 8 driver’s license.
