About the Role:
We seek two dedicated General Assistants to maintain our university’s outdoor spaces. This position plays a vital role in preserving the aesthetic and functional quality of our campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
Lawn Care & Maintenance
- Maintain lawns through mowing, fertilizing, and edging
- Operate and maintain push/riding lawnmowers and gardening tools
- Remove debris and maintain walkways/parking areas
- Conduct aeration, weeding, and thatch removal
Plant Maintenance & Cultivation
- Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges
- Maintain specialty gardens and plant nursery
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides as directed
- Manage irrigation systems and watering schedules
Equipment & Safety
- Perform basic equipment maintenance/repairs
- Ensure proper storage of tools and materials
- Follow safety protocols and PPE requirements
- Maintain clean workspaces and storage areas
Landscaping Support
- Implement landscape designs and plant installations
- Create garden borders and hardscape features
- Prepare sports fields for events and activities
Requirements:
- Practical experience in grounds maintenance
- Knowledge of plant care and landscaping techniques
- Ability to operate gardening equipment safely
- Physical fitness for outdoor work in various conditions
