Position Details

  • Employment Type: Full-time Position
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance (NQF 7 equivalent)
  • Experience Needed: 5-10 years (Minimum 3 years at management level in local government)
  • Location: Gauteng Province
  • Department: Financial Management Division

Key Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with personal transportation
  • MFMA compliance certification or eligibility for dispensation
  • Expertise in Local Government financial regulations (MFMA, SCM, GRAP)
  • Professional registration with accounting body (advantageous)
  • Comprehensive understanding of municipal supply chain management

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee municipal budget planning and allocation processes
  • Manage payroll administration and supplier payments
  • Supervise expenditure control, cash flow management, and grant administration
  • Ensure compliance with national treasury reporting standards
  • Coordinate tax compliance activities (VAT, PAYE, etc.)
  • Prepare financial reconciliations and annual statements
  • Implement cash management strategies and investment protocols
