Language Services Manager

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Language/Language Practice

Experience: 8+ years (including managerial experience)

Requirements

  • Three-year tertiary qualification majoring in language studies
  • Proven experience in language services management
  • Knowledge of language legislation and local government policies
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Preference for candidates fluent in all three Western Cape official languages
  • Understanding of South African Sign Language is advantageous

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Language Services Unit and oversee translation/interpretation workflows
  • Manage tenders, contracts, and service delivery for language operations
  • Provide multilingual interpretation services (Xhosa, Afrikaans, English, Sign Language)
  • Develop strategies to promote municipal multilingualism
  • Mentor staff and manage team performance
  • Conduct research to align services with international standards
  • Oversee budget management and financial compliance
