Language Services Manager
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Job Type: Full Time
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Language/Language Practice
Experience: 8+ years (including managerial experience)
Requirements
- Three-year tertiary qualification majoring in language studies
- Proven experience in language services management
- Knowledge of language legislation and local government policies
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Preference for candidates fluent in all three Western Cape official languages
- Understanding of South African Sign Language is advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Language Services Unit and oversee translation/interpretation workflows
- Manage tenders, contracts, and service delivery for language operations
- Provide multilingual interpretation services (Xhosa, Afrikaans, English, Sign Language)
- Develop strategies to promote municipal multilingualism
- Mentor staff and manage team performance
- Conduct research to align services with international standards
- Oversee budget management and financial compliance
