Accountant: Salaries (Permanent Position)
Organizational Context
Breede Valley Municipality, located at the heart of Worcester in Western Cape Province, operates under Local Government regulations to deliver essential community services. We are seeking a qualified accounting professional to join our finance team.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead payroll accounting operations and financial control processes
- Maintain compliant salary administration systems (PAYE, SDL & UIF)
- Oversee employee benefit programs including pension funds and medical aid deductions
- Coordinate monthly payroll verification and salary payments
- Prepare financial reconciliations and year-end closure processes
- Ensure compliance with COIDA Act and other relevant legislation
Requirements
- National Diploma in Finance/Accounting (NQF Level 6)
- 3+ years’ experience in payroll accounting
- Proficiency in MS Office and financial systems
- Working knowledge of GRAP standards
- Strong numerical aptitude and supervisory skills
- Bilingual capability (Two Western Cape official languages)
