Job Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Ultra-heavy motor vehicle driver to join our AEL Contract team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Ultra-heavy vehicles and performing related duties.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 qualification
• Strong verbal and numerical literacy skills
• Valid Code EC driver’s license with PrDP (DGP)
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving Ultra-heavy vehicles
• Must be 25 years or older
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
• Knowledge of defensive driving techniques
• Understanding of vehicle components and their functions
• Familiarity with emergency and defect reporting procedures
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher
• Skills in vehicle loading techniques and cost-effective driving

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for trips and operate Ultra-heavy duty vehicles
• Load, transport, and offload goods
• Handle documentation and perform other related duties as required
• Follow all instructions from supervisors
• Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed
• Maintain a clean criminal record and safe driving record
• Ensure proper upkeep of vehicles, uniforms, and PPE
• Adhere to SOP’s and safety procedures
• Complete medical evaluation, USCS training modules, and induction processes
• Pass a practical driving evaluation
• Ensure vehicles are not overloaded according to the National Road Traffic Act
• Supervise or operate offloading equipment during unloading
• Secure loads before departure and manage tarpaulins when needed
• Interact with customers professionally and efficiently
